Ẹghẹ ne a na rre Igipt, ma ghi rri ehẹn nọ khan mwa, avbe umwẹkhẹn, ogi, ebe afọ, alubarha ke ohọ ne ima gha re!
How fondly we remember the fish that we used to eat without cost in Egypt, also the cucumbers, the watermelons, the leeks, the onions, and the garlic!
6 Sokpan banbanna nian, ma i ghi mwẹ orhiọn, ai miẹn evbare re, evbare ọvbehe i rrọ gberra e mana na, ẹdẹgbe ẹdẹgbe!”
6 But now we* are withering away. We see nothing at all except this manna.”
Or “our souls.”

Moses heard the people weeping, family after family, each man at the entrance of his tent. And Jehovah became very angry, and Moses was also very displeased.

E Nọyaẹnmwa keghi tama e Mosis wẹẹ, “Si arhin ekigbesiyenẹ ni re ọkaolotu ni rẹn enegbe kevbe ne ọghọ rre ọre egbe koko, viọ iran bu mwẹ gha die Owa Ukpọn Ile, tama iran ne iran mudia ke uwẹ vba.
Jehovah replied to Moses: “Gather for me
70 men from the elders of Israel, men whom you recognize as* elders and officials of the people, and take them to the tent of meeting, and have them stand there with you.
Or “who you know are; who are known to you as.”
E Mosis ẹre ọ mwẹ ekhọe ọmẹhẹ sẹ emwa hia ni rre agbọn na.

Now the man Moses was by far the meekest of all the men* on the face of the earth.
Or “was very humble (mild-tempered), more so than any other man.”

26 So they came back to Moses and Aaron and all the assembly of the Israelites in the wilderness of Paʹran, at Kaʹdesh. They brought back a report to all the assembly and showed them the fruitage of the land.
27 Iran keghi tama e Mosis wẹẹ, “Ma ya ghe ẹvbo ne u gie ima ẹre ghe nẹ, otọe ne ẹfe ye kevbe ne ọ maan emwiokọ nọ, usun ọmọ erhan ni rrọọ ọre ena khin.
27 This is what they reported to Moses: “We entered the land into which you sent us, and it is indeed flowing with milk and honey, and this is its fruitage.
28 Sokpan, emwa ni rrọọ keghi re emwa ẹtin, a na wa vbe gbe ekẹn ọnrẹn ẹsẹse. Ne ọ ghi wa ya khọ sẹ ehia, ma miẹn avbe ivbi uniẹn arhuanran vbe evba.
28 Nevertheless, the people who dwell in the land are strong, and the fortified cities are very great. We also saw the Anʹa·kim there.
29 Odẹ ekẹn vbe otọ nii ọre emwa Amalẹk ye, ẹvbo oke vbọ, ọre avbe Hiti Jebus, kevbe Amọri ye, ivbi Kenan keghi rre ọkpẹn okun Meditẹrrenian, iran yin lele Ẹzẹ Jọdan.”
29 The A·malʹek·ites are dwelling in the land of the Negʹeb, and the Hitʹtites, the Jebʹu·sites, and the Amʹor·ites are dwelling in the mountainous region, and the Caʹnaan·ites are dwelling by the sea and along the Jordan.”
30 E Kelẹb keghi gbe eta ye avbe emwa nii gui ma e Mosis unu, ọ wẹẹ, “Te ima ra dekun ẹvbo nii ne a muẹn nian, ma wegbe sẹ ne ọ gha khọn rẹn miẹn otọ.”
30 Then Caʹleb tried to calm the people as they stood before Moses by saying: “Let us go up immediately, and we are sure to take possession of it, because we can surely conquer it.”
31 Sokpan avbe emwa ne iran vbe Kelẹb gba yo keghi kha wẹẹ, “Ẹn o, ma ma wegbe sẹ ne ọ gha dekun iran; iran ni rre evba wegbe sẹ mwa.”
31 But the men who went up with him said: “We are not able to go up against the people, because they are stronger than we are.”
32 Iran na wewe iyẹn ohoghe vbekpa ẹvbo ne iran ya ghe gba ẹbu ivbi Izrẹl hia, Iran wẹẹ, “Evbare ne a miẹn vbe otọ nii i kue sẹ ẹvbo nii rrọọ re. Emwa ne ima miẹn hia wa ye higboo.
32 And they kept on giving the Israelites a bad report about the land that they had spied out, saying: “The land that we passed through to spy out is a land that devours its inhabitants, and all the people whom we saw in it are men of extraordinary size.
33 Ma miẹn avbe arhuanran vbe evba, iran ne ivbi Anak. Ma keghi yevbe atete vbe ehe ne iran ye zẹ vbene ima ro egbe ima yi. Erriọ ọre ima gha vbe khọ vbe aro iran.”
33 And there we saw the Nephʹi·lim, the sons of Aʹnak, who are from* the Nephʹi·lim, and in comparison we seemed like grasshoppers, both to us and to them.”
Or “descendants of.”
40 days, they returned from spying out the land.

Then all the assembly raised their voice, and the people continued crying out and weeping all through that night.

2 All the Israelites began to murmur against Moses and Aaron, and the whole assembly spoke against them, saying: “If only we had died in the land of Egypt, or if only we had died in this wilderness!
3 Vbọzẹ ne Nọyaẹnmwa na viọ ima rrie ẹvbo nii yi? Iran gha gbele ima an vbe okuo, iran ghi munọ avbe ivbi ima kevbe amwẹ ima oghunmwu viọ gha rrie. Ẹre a wa werriegbe gha rrie Igipt ọre ọ maan sẹ. ”
3 Why is Jehovah bringing us to this land to fall by the sword? Our wives and children will become plunder. Is it not better for us to return to Egypt?”
4 Iran na rhunmwuda ọnii zẹ ọre vbe iro ma egbe iran wẹẹ, “Wa gi ima zẹ ọkaolotu ne a dọlegbe gha rrie Igipt.”
4 They were even saying to one another: “Let us appoint a leader and return to Egypt!”
(Num. 14:3, 4)
Vbọzẹe ne Nọyaẹnmwa na viọ ima rrie ẹvbo nii yi? Iran gha gbele ima ran vbe okuo, iran ghi munọ avbe ivbi ima kevbe amwẹ ima oghunmwu viọ gha rrie. Ẹi re a wa werriegbe gha rrie Igipt ẹre ọ maan sẹ. ”

E Jọsua ne ovbi e Nọn kevbe Kelẹb ne ovbi e Jefunẹ na ye akhiẹ sọ ukpọn iran an.
Joshua the son of Nun and Caʹleb the son of Je·phunʹneh, who were among those who spied out the land, ripped their garments apart,
7 Iran keghi tama emwa nii wẹẹ, “Otọe ne ima ya ghe, otọe esiesi nọ.
7 and they said this to all the assembly of the Israelites: “The land that we passed through to spy out is a very, very good land.
8 Adeghẹ ẹko Nọyaẹnmwa rhiẹnrhiẹn ghe mwa, ọ gha viọ ima gha rrie evba, ọghi mu otọ ne ẹfe vọn kevbe ne ọ maan emwi okọ nii ne ima.
8 If Jehovah is pleased with us, he will certainly bring us into this land and give it to us, a land that is flowing with milk and honey.
9 Wa ghẹ sọtẹ e Nọyaẹnmwa wa ghẹ vbe mu ohan emwa ni rre evba. Ma gha khọn iran miẹn otọ vbe ne ẹi na sa ima ọfọ, e Nọyaẹnmwa gu ima rrọọ, ọ vbe fuẹn avbe ẹbọ ne ọ te gbe aro ghe iran an nẹ, rhunmwuda ọnii wa ghẹ mu ohan iran.”
9 But you must not rebel against Jehovah, and you must not fear the people of the land, for we will devour them.* Their protection has been removed from them, and Jehovah is with us. Do not fear them.”
10 Emwa nii ghi te ra filo okuta gbele iran an, sokpan vbe udemwurri, iran keghi ya bẹghe vbe uwanmwẹ ne ẹi gia ghe nii ne ọ rhie maan we Nọyaẹnmwa rre evba, rhie egbe ladian yan Owa Ukpọn Ile.
10 However, all the assembly talked of stoning them. But Jehovah’s glory appeared on the tent of meeting to all the people of Israel.
Lit., “for they are bread to us.”

Ọkpa vbe uwu iran na nọ ghaa rre agbọn, nọ vbe la otọ nii, ẹi rrọọ. Iran miẹn uwanmwẹ ne ẹi gia ghe ne a ya rẹn ighẹ I rre evba nẹ, kevbe iwinna ọ yan unu uan ne I winnaẹn vbe Igipt, kevbe uwu ẹgbo, sokpan iran keghi ye gha fi obọ yọ mwẹ unu yan egbe yan egbe, iran na he ne iran họn ẹmwẹ mẹ.
However, not one of the men who have seen my glory and my signs that I performed in Egypt and in the wilderness and yet have kept testing me these ten times and have not listened to my voice
23 lran i la otọ ne I ve avbe erha iran odede ẹre. Uwu iran hia ni he mwẹ nii, ọkpa ne ọ gha larọ ẹi rrọọ.
23 will ever see the land about which I swore to their fathers. No, not one of those treating me without respect will see it.
24 Sokpan, vbene a na miẹn wẹẹ Kelẹb ọguọmwadia mwẹ ighẹ uyinmwẹ ọghẹe lughaẹn, ọ keghi mudia ke mwẹ gbain, I gha rhie ẹre sẹ otọ ne irẹn ya ghe, otọ nii gha khian ọghe ivbi ẹre.
24 But because my servant Caʹleb had a different spirit and kept following after me wholeheartedly, I will certainly bring him into the land where he went, and his offspring will take possession of it.

Jehovah then said to Moses and Aaron:
20 years old and up who were registered, all of you who have murmured against me.
27 “Vbe avbe emwa dan na ra gui ẹzọ uwu unu ghe mwẹ kpẹe sẹhẹ yi? Ẹzọ uwu unu ne I he họn vbe unu iran sẹe.
27 “How much longer will this evil assembly keep up this murmuring against me? I have heard what the Israelites are murmuring against me.
28 Banbanna nian, rhie ewaniẹn na ne iran. ‘Ugbẹn vbe a miẹn wẹ mẹ rrọọ, te I wa vẹn ihẹn wẹ vbene uwa nọ rẹn ọre l ra ru uwa hẹ. Mẹ ne Nọyaẹnmwa tae nẹ.
28 Say to them, ‘“As surely as I live,” declares Jehovah, “I will do to you just what I have heard you speak!
29 Wa gha wulo, a ghi vbe zagha ikun orinmwi uwa lele uwu ẹgbo na, rhunmwuda ne emwa na gha gui ẹzọ uwu unu ghe mwẹ, wa na hia fẹẹrẹ ne ọ sẹ ọmọ ukpo ugie nẹ ne ọ gha lao otọe nii, ẹi rrọọ.
29 In this wilderness your corpses will fall, yes, the whole number of you from
30 I te yan wẹ I gha gie uwa yin otọe ni, sokpan, nian ọkpa vbe uwu uwa ne ọ gha yin ẹnrẹn ẹi ghi rrọọ gberra Kelẹb kevbe Jọsua.
30 None of you will enter into the land that I swore* to have you reside in except Caʹleb the son of Je·phunʹneh and Joshua the son of Nun.
Lit., “I lifted my hand.”

Ukpo iyeva ọre uwa ra ya rri oya ye orukhọ uwa, ukpo ọkpa ye ikpẹdẹ ọkpọkpa ne uwa ya ghe otọe ni ghe. Wa gha rẹn emwi ne a yae kha we ne uwa si okuo mwẹ rrie egbe!
According to the number of the days that you spied out the land,
40 days, a day for a year, a day for a year, you will answer for your errors
40 years, for you will know what it means to oppose me.*
Or “to have me as an enemy.”

Vbe uki ne okaro, Ivbi Izrẹl hia keghi do sẹ ẹgbo Zin, iran na bu agọ ye Kedẹs. Evba ẹre Mirian na wu, a keghi re ẹre.
In the first month, the entire assembly of the Israelites came into the wilderness of Zin, and the people began dwelling in Kaʹdesh. It was there that Mirʹi·am died and was buried.
2 Emwa nii ma miẹn amẹ wọn, iran keghi rhunmwuda ọni do ga e Mosis kevbe Erọn.
2 Now there was no water for the assembly, and they gathered together against Moses and Aaron.
3 Iran na gha gui wẹẹ, “Akpawẹ te ima wa wulo lele Ivbi Izrẹl ne ihomwa vbe odaro Owa Ukpọn Ile ọghe Nọyaẹnmwa ẹre ọ gha te wa maan sẹ.
3 The people were quarreling with Moses, saying: “If only we had died when our brothers died before Jehovah!
4 Vbọzẹe ne uwa na hẹ ima la ẹgbo? Ẹre te ima vbe emwirri ra wulo na?
4 Why have you brought Jehovah’s congregation into this wilderness for us and our livestock to die here?
5 Vbọzẹe ne uwa na viọ ima ke Igipt ladian, gha die ihe ọrhiae na ne emwi i na zọ? Ọka i rrọọ, ohọ i rrọọ, ọmọ erhan ayọn nọ baa i rrọọ, e pomagranẹt i rrọọ. Amẹ na wọn kẹkan ẹi rrọọ!”
5 And why have you led us up out of Egypt to bring us into this evil place? It is no place for seed and figs and vines and pomegranates, and there is no water to drink.”
Iran kegha gu e Mosis gui wẹẹ, “Akpawẹ te ima wa wulo lele Ivbi Izrẹl ne etẹn ima vbe odaro e Jehova, ẹre ọ te wa maan sẹ!
(Num. 20:3)
The people were quarreling with Moses, saying: “If only we had died when our brothers died before Jehovah!
(Num. 20:9-11)
E Mosis keghi ya rhie ọkpọ nii zẹvbe ne Nọyaẹnmwa khare.
So Moses took the rod from before Jehovah, just as He had commanded him.
10 Irẹn kevbe Erọn keghi si emwa ni hia koko ye odaro okuta nii, ẹre Mosis na kha wẹẹ, “Wa danmwehọ, wa ne etẹ na! Uwu okuta na ẹre ima gha ke samẹ ladian ne uwa ra?”
10 Then Moses and Aaron called the congregation together before the crag, and he said to them: “Hear, now, you rebels! Must we bring out water for you from this crag?”
11 Ọre Mosis na tọn ọkpọ nii mu, ọ na fi okuta nii re igba eva, ẹzẹ nọkhua kevbe lẹẹ ladian vbọ, emwa nii hia kevbe emwirri iran keghi wọn.
11 With that Moses lifted his hand up and struck the crag twice with his rod, and much water began to pour out, and the assembly and their livestock began to drink.
(Num. 20:10)
Irẹn kevbe Erọn keghi si emwa nii hia koko ye odaro okuta nii, ẹre Mosis na kha wẹẹ, “Wa danmwehọ, wa ne etẹ na! Uwu okuta na, ẹre ima gha ke sa amẹ ladian ne uwa ra?”
Then Moses and Aaron called the congregation together before the crag, and he said to them: “Hear, now, you rebels! Must we bring out water for you from this crag?”
(Num. 20:12)
Sokpan, e Nọyaẹnmwa gu e Mosis kevbe Erọn gui wẹẹ, “Rhunmwuda ne uwa na ma mwẹ iyayi sẹ ne uwa mu ẹtin yan ẹtin mwẹ nọhuanrẹn vbe odaro Ivbi Izrẹl, wa i ghi ra su iran la otọ ne I ve wẹẹ I gha mu ne iran.”
Jehovah later said to Moses and Aaron: “Because you did not show faith in me and sanctify me before the eyes of the people of Israel, you will not bring this congregation into the land that I will give them.”
(Num. 20:24)
“Erọn i khian la otọe ne I wẹẹ I gha mu ne Ivbi Izrẹl, irẹn gha wu rhunmwuda, wa eveva sọtẹ uhi mwẹ vbe Mẹriba.”
“Aaron will be gathered to his people.* He will not enter the land that I will give to the Israelites, because you both rebelled against my order regarding the waters of Merʹi·bah.
This is a poetic expression for death.
(Num. 23:19)
Osanobua i ye vbe emwa ne agbọn, ni ta ohoghe; rẹn i re ọmwa kẹkan ne ọ gbe yo gbe rre. Emwi ne ọ rhirhi ta, ẹre ọ ru; ọ gha guan, a ghi ru ẹre.
God is not a mere man who tells lies, Nor a son of man who changes his mind.* When he says something, will he not do it? When he speaks, will he not carry it out?
Or “who feels regret.”
(Num. 26:65)
E Nọyaẹnmwa tae nẹ wẹẹ te iran hia ra wulo ye otọ ẹgbo, erriọ ọ gele gha ye, sokpan a ma wẹẹ Kelẹb ne ovbi Jefunẹ kevbe Jọsua ne ovbi Nọn.
For Jehovah had said concerning them: “They will die without fail in the wilderness.” So there was not a man left of them except Caʹleb the son of Je·phunʹneh and Joshua the son of Nun.
(Num. 27:14)
Rhunmwuda wa eva ọre ọ sọtẹ uhi mwẹ vbe ẹgbo e Zin. Ẹghẹ ne emwa ni na gha gui ẹzọ uwu unu ghe mwẹ vbe Mẹriba, wa ma kue ne uwa miẹn ẹtin mwẹ nọhuanrẹn kue ma iran.” (Mẹriba ọrọre ẹzẹ nọ rre Kedẹs vbe uwu ẹgbo Zin).
because when the assembly was quarreling with me in the wilderness of Zin, you rebelled against my order to sanctify me before them by means of the waters. These are the waters of Merʹi·bah at Kaʹdesh in the wilderness of Zin.”
